Extra Point Preview: Can the Knights put it all together in year two under Sieving?

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN)—To put it simply, the Northside Methodist Knights did not have the dream season they envisioned in head coach Marc Sieving's first year with the team.

The Knights capped off their 2025 campaign with a regular-season finale that ended in a 19-14 loss to the Samson Tigers, bringing to a close a season in which Northside Methodist finished 0-8.

Now with another off-season under the tutelage of Sieving, this head coach feels his squad is finally taking the next steps toward success.

"Now, we kind of have everything established as far as what we're trying to do culture-wise," Sieving said. "Our administration has made a lot of investments in our weight room; I feel like that's starting to pay off...It's still a process, but that's what we focus on as a team and as coaches; is that process and trying to get better every day."

Coming into the new year, this is a young and inexperienced Northside team, as the Knights only have seven total upperclassmen on their roster.

Tight end Brodie Black, wide receiver Caleb Dozier, and offensive lineman Jacob Brannon will undoubtedly be leaned upon as leaders of this team, seeing how they're the only seniors on the roster.

Northside Methodist enters its first year under the updated AHSAA classifications, and despite the obvious lack of depth on this team, Sieving is coming into the 2026 season looking to turn some heads and show that Northside Methodist football is on the rise; fans just need to be a little more patient.

"We're not going out there to try to compete; we want to try to win. I feel like there's some teams on our schedule that we can get in there and play with. I know this: all the work we've been putting in is going to pay off. I don't know when, but at some point it's going to pay off. I know our kids believe that too; as long as we keep grinding and keep pushing, then eventually things are going to happen for us."
