The Eagles are days away from joint practices with the Browns and have a medical update on Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson. The former second-round pick exited the Eagles' open stadium practice with a left knee injury that required a Monday MRI.
Adam Schefter reports that Dickerson suffered a meniscus injury, and further testing will determine how much time he'll miss.
A meniscus tear can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months to heal, depending on the severity of the tear and the treatment approach. David J. Chao has insight into knee injuries, and Dickerson could miss six weeks if it's simply a trim, while a complete tear, similar to J.J. McCarthy's rookie injury with the Vikings, would cost the left guard months.
A minor tear, treated with rest and physical therapy, could see Dickerson returning around Week 6 or 7, with an eventual 3-6 months for complete recovery. A more severe tear for Dickerson could require surgery, and potentially up to 6-9 months for a full return to activities.
Last season, Dickerson tied Brandon Brooks for the most Pro Bowl selections in team history by an offensive guard and was named to the Pro Bowl in three of his first four seasons. Dickerson is one of five guards who have made the Pro Bowl every year since 2022, along with the Browns' Joel Bitonio, the Falcons' Chris Lindstrom, the Colts' Quenton Nelson, and the Bears' Joe Thuney.
Philadelphia could deploy Brett Toth or Trevor Keegan in that spot, or rotate Tyler Steen to left guard to reach the NFC Championship game, allowing Matt Pryor to play right guard.
