As first reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel, former Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby, now with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, has entered a facility for treatment of a gambling addiction.

The report says that while Sorsby was at Indiana in 2022, prior to UC, he bet on the Hoosiers to win. He only played in one game that season.

Brendan Sorsby paid millions to play for Texas Tech​


When Sorsby departed UC via the transfer portal, he instantly became the most sought-after quarterback, eventually coming to oil-rich Texas Tech. It's been estimated that he received in excess of $4 million to go to Texas Tech.

Sorsby's contract at UC contained a buyout clause for $1 million, which the school is currently suing him to recover.
