The NCAA denied Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby's request for reinstatement for eligibility for the 2026 college football season, according to multiple reports May 26.

Sorsby played the past two seasons for the Cincinnati Bearcats after spending his first two seasons at Indiana. He left UC for Texas Tech, which Sorsby chose over LSU.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Sorsby completed a 35-day in-patient rehab for his gambling addiction at Algamus in Goodyear, Arizona, adding that Sorsby is expected to return to campus in the upcoming days, with a court date scheduled for June 1 in Lubbock County.

State gaming regulators in Ohio and Indiana reportedly launched investigations earlier this month into Sorsby's alleged betting activity.

Sorsby could pursue the NFL's supplemental draft after the residential treatment program he reportedly entered.
