Ex-Red Sox Pitcher Strengthens All-Star Case With Great Start Against Braves originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox traded away Kyle Harrison in the offseason, and he has turned into a star for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Harrison has been one of the best starters in all of baseball this season, and he has a strong case to be an All-Star for the first time in his career. He has a 2.50 ERA in 14 starts this year, and had a quality start against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. The Braves have one of the best offenses in baseball, and Harrison was able to get through their lineup with very little trouble.
Harrison went 6 1/3 innings against the Braves, striking out seven along the way. He was perfect through three innings and did not issue a single walk. He has been a great addition to the Brewers' rotation, and if not for one game in Las Vegas, he would have had even better numbers.
The Athletics hosted a six-game homestand in Las Vegas, and Las Vegas Ballpark proved to be a hitters' paradise. Harrison gave up eight earned runs in 2 1/3 innings in that start, and it was his only bad outing of the year.
His ERA without the game in Las Vegas is 1.55. The Red Sox traded him to Milwaukee in the deal to acquire Caleb Durbin. Harrison was originally acquired from the San Francisco Giants in the Rafael Devers trade. He has seemed to unlock something with the Brewers and could be pitching in Philadelphia for the Midsummer Classic.
