With all the head coach openings now filled across the NFL, staffs are being built, and pieces are constantly shifting and shuffling around the league. Now, a familiar name to long-time NFL fans is beginning to garner interest as a potential assistant.

According to reports, former Texans and Falcons quarterback Matt Schaub is gaining interest as a potential quarterback coach in the NFL. While no specific teams were mentioned as currently interested, it's not hard to imagine Schaub finding a home as a coach amid the ongoing movement in the NFL.

A potential Matt Schaub return to the sidelines in the works

Schaub played in the NFL from 2004 to 2020 and recorded 93 starts over his career. During the 2009 season, he led the league with 4,770 passing yards. In 2023, Schaub began a coaching career and served as an analyst for the Falcons during the season, but has not been on any staff since.

Over the past two years, Schaub has stayed tied to the sport, however, serving as a commentator for the Virginia Cavaliers football radio broadcasts. Last fall, he also announced his candidacy for the NFL Players’ Association’s executive director, and advocated for the formation of a new league by NFL players to combat NFL owners.
