The NFL world was stunned to learn of the death of former running back Doug Martin last October. His death came under heartbreaking circumstances, as his family detailed the struggles he had been facing. Now, Martin’s parents are seeking to hold those they believe are responsible accountable. The lawsuit names the City of Oakland, several police officers, and an ambulance service.

Multiple reports confirmed that the family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against those parties. The suit alleges that excessive force played the primary role in Martin’s death. According to the complaint, City of Oakland police officers held Martin facedown while one or more officers applied pressure to his back.
