What does it take to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame these days? It's anyone's guess as eight Super Bowl rings and two Super Bowl MVPs do not appear to be sufficient accomplishments for the voting populace.

That is what just happened to retired New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and legendary coach Bill Belichick. Voters have singled out both as not deserving entry to the Hall for what many consider to be petty reasons.

"Both of those decisions were absurd," said retired safety Antrel Rolle, who played with Manning on the Giants' Super Bowl XLVI club that defeated Belichick's New England Patriots that year.

From Hard Rock Bet:

"When you talk about Eli Manning, you’re talking about a guy who beat the greatest quarterback ever, Tom Brady, twice in the Super Bowl. That speaks volumes. He had a great career. He can lead his team, and he doesn’t fold under pressure. How did he get snubbed twice? It baffles me.

"When you talk about Bill Belichick missing out, it’s like, 'Are we serious right now?'

"He’s the best to ever coach in the NFL, and I don’t see anyone surpassing him anytime soon. Andy Reid may have a chance, but right now Belichick is that guy.

"I’m not sure what the voting entails right now, but something needs to be changed. People who are more in tune and more involved with the game and its dynamics probably need to have a little more say-so, because you’re letting these writers and other people vote. They can either like you or not like you. And we know what this leads to. There are certain guys who are in there who shouldn’t be, and there are certain guys who are not in there who should be.

"I get that it can be subjective. But to say that those two guys, Eli and Belichick, are not first-ballot Hall of Famers is absurd to me.

Rolle joins the many fans, players, and experts who are still attempting to wrap their minds around these glaring omissions.

Belichick has 333 total wins as an NFL head coach. Only Hall of Famer Don Shula (347) has more in the 116-year history of the National Football League. His six Super Bowl wins are two better than the next coach on the list (Chuck Noll - 4).

Manning is one of just six players to win multiple Super Bowl MVP awards. Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw, and Joe Montana are all in the Hall of Fame, while Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes are on their way. Manning, however, has gotten glossed over in his first two years of eligibility.
