Former Eagles star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was arrested on Wednesday in California for insurance fraud, according to TMZ Sports.

Jeffery is facing a felony charge that can carry up to five years in prison, according to California law. He could also face a fine the double amount of the fraud. The amount was not revealed in TMZ’s report.

Jeffery played four seasons (2017-2020), with his best season coming during the team’s 2017 Super Bowl run.

He recorded 57 receptions for 789 yards and 9 touchdowns in the 2017 regular season and snagged three receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown in the team’s Super Bowl victory over the Patriots that February.

Jeffery had a solid 2018 season, but it came to a rough end.

With less than three minutes remaining in the Eagles’ divisional-round playoff loss to the Saints, an accurate pass from Nick Foles went through Jeffery’s hands and was intercepted by then-Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

The Eagles were down by six and had the ball at the Saints’ 27-yard line, but their star wide receiver gave the game away.

He never recovered from that.

Jefferey didn’t perform well and dealt with injuries in his final seasons in Philadelphia. He was released by the team during the 2021 offseason and never played another snap in the NFL.
