Retired UFC fighter and current fight night analyst Din Thomas got everyone riled up with his garbage take on flyweight contender Gillian Robertson at UFC 330 last weekend in Philadelphia and lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan was like, “hold my beer.”
Tsarukyan returns to fight Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331 next month in Los Angeles, a fight that was originally supposed to go to Charles Oliveira. Unfortunately, “Do Bronx” was forced to withdraw after the sudden death of his close friend and training partner, Allan Nascimento.
Tsarukyan defeated Oliveira by split decision at UFC 300 back in early 2024.
“Charles’ friend died and he cannot train; but I don’t understand, in 3-4 days he’s doing training and back in camp,” Tsarukyan told Yahoo Sports. “Probably they already set up a fight with Diego Lopes. He was just finding an excuse. To lose somebody is so hard, but you could beat me and dedicate the victory to your friend. Fight me or Diego Lopes? For sure he would pick Diego Lopes.”
Sadly, this is not the only dumb thing said following Nascimento’s death.
Oliveira is now in talks to return against Diego Lopes in a lightweight affair for the upcoming UFC 334 card in November, tentatively scheduled for Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Nothing is confirmed at this time, but it would certainly give “Do Bronx” more time to grieve and get his focus back.
