After seeing improvement in the Big 12 Championships last season, the UCF Knights’ Track and Field team is back looking to replicate such efforts once again they continue settling into the conference.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Knights for their 2026 Indoor and Outdoor campaigns:

The post-Rayniah Jones era began with a breakout performance from middle-distance runners, particularly the 4x400m relay team, which earned gold in both conference championship meets.
A pair of seniors also marked their final seasons with postseason success: Adaobi Tabugbo still kept the Knights’ streak of golds in the Big 12 Outdoor Championships’ 100m hurdles since they’ve entered the conference alive, while Kiah Williams made it to the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 400m dash.
The Knights also saw improvement as a team in both Big 12 Championships, finishing two spots better in the indoor championships and three spots better in the outdoor one.

Last season’s junior-heavy team becomes this season’s senior-heavy team.
A majority of the team’s 4x400m relay group is back to follow up on not just their double gold efforts from last season, but also their solo efforts.
The field squad has undergone a nearly full revamp, with only two of last season’s six field/multi athletes returning. Now, thanks to a combination of new transfers and freshmen, field coach Brody Honeycutt’s group now sits at 11 athletes strong, which includes the return of dedicated high jumpers, according to head coach Dana Boone.
As for the distance squad, coach Bryan Harmon is coming off a historic NCAA Cross-Country Regional performance with an experienced group, sporting the likes of Yvone Sandui, last season’s new transfer who came within less than a second of breaking then program outdoor 800m record last season, Louisville transfer Alexandra Racquet, who makes her UCF Track debut after leading the cross-country team in its regional, and senior Izzy Richardson, looking to finish her four seasons at UCF on a high note.

Dana Boone is the type of coach who works with what she’s got.
When she first arrived in Orlando in the summer of 2018, she found a team that was finishing in the bottom half of The American. By her fourth season, the Knights became the dominant AAC Track and Field program that reached its zenith with the Rayniah Jones era.
Now, in Year 8 overall, Year 3 in the Big 12, and sporting a fresh new contract extension, Boone is back to keep the Knights’ improvement from Years 1 and 2 in the Big 12 going.

Newberry produced one of the highlights of the season last year thanks to her comeback effort that earned UCF the gold in the Big 12 Outdoor Championships’ 4x400m relay to go with their gold in the indoor 4x400m relay.
This season, the UAlbany transfer is back for her senior season.

A Norfolk State transfer, Sandui broke out midway through the outdoor season to make it into the Top 10 in program history in the 1500m run and follow it up with making it into second in program history in the 800m run, coming less than a second shy of the program record.
Now fresh off a cross-country season that saw her run the third-fastest 5K in program history, Sandui returns to the track.
Who We’ll Miss
Adaobi Tabugbo
Thank you to our Naija Queen, Ada @adaobitabugbo | #gkcopic.twitter.com/g4eiyb0U3J

While BYU transfer Adobe Tabugbo only had two indoor seasons and one outdoor season of eligibility to use in Orlando, she made the most of it.
She finished on the podium both times she competed in the Big 12 60m hurdles championship, getting a bronze and silver medal. However, she was able to get her gold in the Big 12 100m hurdles championship in her one outdoor season. On top of that, she also earned a pair of Outdoor All-American nods, Second-Team for the 100m hurdles and an honorable mention in the 4x100m relay, to go with her Second-Indoor All-American in the 60m hurdles.
She is one of two Knights to have run a sub-8-second 60m hurdle time and one of three to run a sub-13-second 100m hurdle time.
Kiah Williams& Asherah Collins
While this pair of athletes did already exhaust all of their outdoor eligibility, they did have one last season of indoor eligibility that they used last year.
Kiah Williams made it into the NCAA Indoor Championships in both the 400m dash and a part of the 4x400m relay, earning Second-Team All-American nods. She finished her career with four All-American honors to go with her four conference meet medals. She also holds the program’s indoor 400m dash record, is part of the fastest indoor and outdoor 4x400m relay times in program history and was the first Knight to compete in the 400m dash in the NCAA Outdoor Championships and the U.S. Olympic Trials.
As for Asherah Collins, she closed her career with both the program indoor and outdoor triple jump records while also ranking in the Top 5 in both the indoor and outdoor long jump rankings. She earned a total of five All-American nods, was a conference triple jump champion three times and was the first athlete in program history to make it to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in both the triple jump and long jump.

Schedule Breakdown
The indoor season remains mostly unchanged from last season, with the most notable change seeing the Knights travel to College Station, Texas, for the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
As for the outdoor season, with the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by Miami (FL) added to the schedule, all of UCF’s regular season meets will be in the state of Florida. That should save on the travel budget though, since the Big 12 Championship is going to be held in Tuscan, Arizona.
