North Jersey has produced the baseball player who broke the color barrier in the American League in Larry Doby (Paterson), one of the greatest U.S. wrestlers of all-time in Bruce Baumgartner (Haledon) and a pioneering basketball Hall of Fame player inCarol Blazejowski (Cranford).
But did you know that this part of the state also gave New Jersey — and the world — an unbreakable high school football rushing record (Netcong), a legendary 159-game winning streak in high school basketball (Passaic) and a tiny town that in our humble opinion has the best sports name in the state (Victory Gardens)?
