Everton vs Burnley – Predicted lineup and team news

Everton host Burnley at the Hill Dickinson Stadium tonight, aiming to secure their first home victory since early December and cement their place in the top half.

The Toffees have moved into eighth place following a clinical 3–2 win at Newcastle on Saturday. Manager David Moyes oversaw a performance that highlighted his team’s effectiveness on the road, but he is now desperate to replicate that form at home. Notably, Everton have kept clean sheets in each of their last three Premier League meetings with Burnley, but they are currently on their longest winless run at home in nearly three decades.

Everton team news

David Moyes manages a squad dealing with a significant defensive absence but boosted by a goalkeeping department. Notably, captain Seamus Coleman is ruled out after picking up a knock on Friday, meaning Jake O’Brien could continue in a reshuffled backline. Consequently, the manager must decide whether to hand a start to Thierno Barry, who netted the winner at Newcastle. Notably, Barry has been in clinical form, scoring six goals in his last 14 appearances after failing to find the net in his first 14 for the club.

Jordan Pickford will start in goal behind a defensive line featuring James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite. In midfield, James Garner and Idrissa Gana Gueye are expected to anchor the side. Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye will provide the width, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall operating in the creative number ten role. Notably, Everton have struggled for efficiency against newly-promoted sides this season, failing to win any of their four such encounters. A win today would mark Moyes’ first home victory against a promoted team in over 15 years.

Everton Predicted XI: Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Garner, Gueye; McNeil, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye; Barry
