TCU volleyball has a legitimate national superstar, and the rest of the country has officially been warned.
Evan Hendrix was named to the 2026 AVCA Division I Player of the Year preseason watch list, placing the Horned Frogs’ explosive outside hitter among 30 of the best players in college volleyball.

After what Hendrix accomplished as a sophomore, her inclusion isn’t based on projection or preseason hype. She’s already proven she belongs in the conversation.
Hendrix erupted for 543 kills in 2025, finishing second in the Big 12 and 10th nationally. That total also ranks third on TCU’s single-season list, putting her name alongside the most productive attackers the program has ever had.
Hendrix averaged a conference-best 4.96 kills per set during Big 12 play and earned unanimous First Team All-Big 12 recognition.
She also collected two conference Offensive Player of the Week awards and became only the seventh AVCA All-American in TCU history when she landed on the third team.
Facing eventual national champion Texas A&M in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Hendrix hammered 26 kills.
That was the largest postseason kill total by a TCU player in program history, even though the Horned Frogs’ season ended that night.
That performance offered a glimpse of what makes Hendrix so dangerous. She doesn’t disappear against elite opponents. She attacks harder, embraces the spotlight and gives TCU a chance to survive matches that might otherwise get away.
The Scottsdale, Arizona, native now enters her junior season as the centerpiece of a program that has reached four consecutive NCAA Tournaments.
TCU is no longer simply trying to qualify for the postseason. With Hendrix leading the offense, the Frogs have reason to believe they can advance deeper and become a serious Big 12 title threat.
The award recognition also represents another step in Hendrix’s rapid rise.
She was added to the Player of the Year watch list midway through last season, but she’ll begin 2026 already carrying national expectations.
Hendrix joins Becca Kelley and Melanie Parra as the only TCU players ever featured on the list.
Her first opportunity to justify the attention won’t be a soft landing. TCU opens Aug. 29 against Texas at the Players Era Volleyball Showcase in Las Vegas.
The Player of the Year field will be updated in October, trimmed to semifinalists in November and reduced to finalists in December. The winner will be announced Dec. 18 in San Antonio.
