ESPN announced on Monday, July 13, that it had signed senior NFL insider Adam Schefter to a new multiyear contract.
ESPN did not announce terms, just that it will extend Schefter's time with the company to more than 20 years.
Financial terms of his new deal were not released. The New York Post reported in 2022 that Schefter, known for breaking NFL news for ESPN, made about $9 million per year.
"It is the highest honor of my career to continue to get to work at ESPN," Schefter said in a statement.
Schefter has been with ESPN since 2009. Before ESPN, he spent five seasons at the NFL Network. He has also worked for the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News.
ESPN announced that Schefter will regularly appear on "Sunday NFL Countdown," "Monday Night Countdown," "NFL Live," "The Pat McAfee Show," "SportsCenter," "Get Up," "First Take" and the network's Super Bowl 61 and NFL draft coverage as part of his new deal.
“Adam reaches NFL fans wherever they are — on air, on ESPN Digital and on social — and that multi-platform instinct is a big part of what makes him so valuable to us,” ESPN president of content Burke Magnus said in a statement. “ESPN NFL news has a way of cutting through everything else on the sports calendar, and Adam is a big reason our audience comes to ESPN first when it breaks.
"His credibility with sources, relentless work ethic and ability to deliver news in real time are second to none. Fans know it, the league knows it and we know it. We’re thrilled he’ll continue leading our NFL coverage for years to come.”
