As Green's old place of work, I find this interesting. Scoops to national press, while the Republic looks pretty out of date. The timestamps showed the Republic story of 3 no-shows to camp being printed within an hour of Pasquarelli's story.

Does this mean we'll get more national coverage? Does this mean the Arizona papers had better work a little harder?

Seems to me such National press for the Cards is a good thing.

Eugene Parker broke the story to Len Pasquarelli. Somers doesn't have enough juice with the big time agents to get that sort of scoop. He'd have to get it from the team, and they typically don't release it officially until it's a totally done deal.

You're probably right.

Still, finding 2 top stories about the Cards on the ESPN front page (the other was the Kendall release) is 2 more than usual. I think that could really help us, in getting this sort of national attention. And, I think it won't hurt the local press to have to come up with more than the 'same old trite putdowns' of the team to compete.

(Mind you, if Kent or Darrell are reading this, I'll happily point out the only thing I've ever scooped was the dog pen.)
