Lee Corso has likely worn his last Hairy Dawg headgear.
ESPN announced Thursday that Corso's last College Gameday appearance will be Aug. 30, Week 1 of the college football season. The destination will be announced later in spring.
Georgia likely won't be the host site, as it opens the season with Marshall. The most likely destination is Texas at Ohio State, the site of Corso's first headgear pick.
Corso turns 90 in August and has made 430 headgear picks since he began the tradition on Oct. 5, 1996, when he picked Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. He's been a part of the Saturday pre-game show since it began in 1987.
"My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years,” said Corso. “I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.”
The University of Georgia's 40 appearances on College Gameday is tied with Michigan for fifth-most, trailing Ohio State (65), Alabama (60), Florida (42) and Oklahoma (41).
Ohio State (25) also leads most times hosted, followed by Alabama (19), Michigan (15), LSU (14) and Florida (13).
Georgia has hosted 10 times, the first on Oct. 5, 1998, when the Bulldogs fell 22-3 to Tennessee, and the most recent in 2024, when UGA defeated Tennessee 31-17.
Corso has picked Georgia 14 times, according to data collected by GamedayCole, with a 9-5 record in his selections.
