ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins recently made a shocking admission earlier this week, one that may surprise Warriors fans. Before Bob Myers became Golden State's general manager, he was an agent representing Perkins and other talented NBA players like Brandon Roy, Tyreke Evans and Brook Lopez.
Perkins recently shared a story about contract negotiations after being traded to the Thunder, saying, "Before I played a single game with OKC, I signed a contract extension, but Bob was telling me, 'Perk, hold tight,' but I couldn't. I signed it, but he had an offer that was going to be on the table in that offseason, for five years and $55 million with the Golden State Warriors."
Whether or not Perkins would have gotten the same offer from the Warriors in free agency after spending the second half of the 2010-11 season with the Thunder remains unknown. However, it's an interesting thought to reflect on. In the end, Golden State wound up with Andrew Bogut instead, acquiring him from the Milwaukee Bucks in a deal headlined by Monta Ellis.
