New York Giants outside linebacker Abdul Carter will look to bounce back in 2026 following an underwhelming rookie campaign last year.

Carter flashed his potential on numerous occasions in 2025 despite the disappointing sack numbers. The Giants selected the former Penn State star with the third overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft, and he will need to play at a much higher level throughout his second season in New York.

ESPN analyst Mina Kimes recently shared her thoughts on Carter before his sophomore season with the Giants. The analyst believes the linebacker will emerge as a star in 2026.

Abdul Carter didn’t get a ton of sacks last year, but he ranked 4th in pressures and 6th in pass rush win rate. After rewatching him, I’m convinced he’s gonna be a star. pic.twitter.com/VaqHe1XSwZ

“Abdul Carter didn’t get a ton of sacks last year, but he ranked 4th in pressures and 6th in pass rush win rate. After rewatching him, I’m convinced he’s gonna be a star,” she wrote.

Carter recorded 43 total tackles, 4.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles during his rookie season in New York. The linebacker possesses elite talent and athleticism despite his struggles and disciplinary issues in Year 1, and he can quickly emerge as one of the top linebackers in the NFL on the Giants’ defense in 2026.

A plethora of NFL fans and analysts would agree with Kimes’ comments regarding Carter’s potential success this upcoming season. The talented linebacker has elite potential despite struggling last year, and he will now look to shine during his second season with the Giants.
