Four Western North Carolina coaches were selected for the 2027 East-West All-Star Games and Carolinas Classic, including two who earned head coaching assignments.
Three of the selections were for North Carolina Coaches Association East-West All-Star events, while a fourth was for the Carolinas Classic.
Erwin football coach Rodney Pruett was named the head coach of the West team for the Football All-Star Game. While the exact date will be determined, the all star game will be held following the NCHSAA state championships, Dec. 10-12, at Jamieson Stadium at Grimsley.

KAMERON KEENAN TO VIRGINIA TECH: North Buncombe 2027 pitcher Kameron Keenan commits to Virginia Tech
The other three WNC coaches selected were for boys and girls basketball.
Hendersonville boys basketball coach Marvin Featherstone was named the head coach for the West in the East-West All-Star Game, which will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex's Novant Health Fieldhouse on July 20 of 2027. Reynolds girls basketball coach Amanda Whitaker was named an assistant coach for the West in the girls basketball all-star game.
McDowell girls basketball coach Zack McCartha was named an assistant coach for the North Carolina girls basketball team in the Carolinas' Classic All-Star Basketball Games. That game will be held on March 20 next year at Dorman in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
