No. 4 Tennessee (29-3) softball defeated Tennessee Tech (9-19), 8-0, in six innings on Tuesday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
Erin Nuwer (12-1) started for Tennessee and pitched a no-hitter. She did not allow a hit and recorded three strikeouts and 68 pitches (44 strikes) against 20 batters. Nuwer allowed one walk and hit one batter.
Tennessee Tech hit 11 groundouts and three flyouts.
The Lady Vols' offense totaled nine hits, including one home run each from Maddi Rutan and Alannah Leach.
Tennessee went 3-for-7 with two outs and 5-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Tennessee will next play Ole Miss on Friday. The Lady Vols will open a three-game series against the Rebels at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
The Lady Vols are ranked No. 4 and are receiving one first-place vote in the NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.
