Eric Garcia has sent out an emotional message after being called into the Spain squad for World Cup 2026 off the back of an impressive season with Barcelona.
The versatile Barcelona star is one of eight players from Hansi Flick’s side on Luis de la Fuente’s roster and he couldn’t be happier to be involved.
He posted on Instagram: “December 2022 World Cup Qualifiers for Qatar. That was the last time I wore the Spain shirt.
“Since then I had to make many decisions and work a lot without making noise to be better, on and off the field, to play again and compete for everything with my club, and 4 years later, comes the opportunity to be able to live my second World Cup.
“More prepared and motivated than ever to fight for it all with this group of players, and grateful to everyone who supports me and helps me be better every day! #VamosEspaña”
The call-up is a deserved reward for Eric. He was tipped to leave Barcelona not so long ago but has worked incredibly hard, even going out on loan to Girona, to prove he deserves a place at Camp Nou.
