The Los Angeles Angels entered Saturday night's home game at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., looking for their second straight win over the Texas Rangers.

The Angels had not won two consecutive games since the first of the 2026 MLB season. Well, the Angels can now say they've done it twice. Mike Trout homered and the Angels secured a 5-2 victory over Texas.

Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi worked seven innings, yet was the hard-luck loser as his record is now even at 5-5. Eovaldi gave up five hits, three earned runs, walked two, and struck out six.

Because the Rangers couldn't get their offense in gear, Eovaldi's good start went to waste.

Angels starter Walbert Ureña picked up the win, going to 2-4 this season. Ureña gave up five hits, one earned run, walked three, and struck out six Rangers. He dropped his ERA to 2.58 with his effort. Five Angels relievers followed him to the mound and Kirby Yates shut the door on Texas in the ninth inning for his first save this season.

With Zach Neto aboard, Trout got around on an Eovaldi pitch and sent it over the center-field wall for a 2-0 Angels lead. It was Trout's 13th home run this season as he's looking pretty healthy so far.

In the top of the third inning with runners at first and second base, Ezequiel Duran's sacrifice fly scored Alejandro Osuna. That cut the Angels' lead down to 2-1.

Los Angeles scored another run in the bottom of the fifth inning on Nolan Schanuel's RBI double, his 12th double this season. Neto scored and the Angels went up 3-1.

Kyle Higashioka's solo home run in the top of the seventh inning, his third home run this season, got the Rangers within 3-2. But the Angels put some distance between themselves and Texas in the bottom of the eighth inning.

With the bases loaded and one out, Oswald Peraza singled to left field. Jorge Soler and Jo Adell scored, giving the Angels their 5-2 advantage.

The Rangers couldn't score off of Yates in the ninth and went down to another defeat.

Texas is now 24-27 overall and sits in third place in the American League West Division. With the victory, the Angels are now 19-34, but still in last place in the AL West.

When Rangers manager Skip Schumaker looks at those runners left on base, he might need a moment to compose himself. The Rangers were 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 total runners on base.

They were not able to pick up the big hits when necessary.

The Angels left seven runners on base and were 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

While the majority of the MLB schedule plays on Sunday afternoon, the Rangers will close out this series against the Angels in a Sunday Night Baseball telecast on Peacock.
