ENGLAND DENY FRANCE THIRD PLACE AT THE WORLD CUP
Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot finished fourth at the 2026 World Cup with France after losing 6-4 to England in the third-place play-off at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. The Three Lions returned to the World Cup podium for the first time since lifting the trophy in 1966. Both Maignan and Rabiot played the full 90 minutes after being named in Didier Deschamps' starting line-up for his final match in charge of Les Bleus. England took control in the first half through goals from Declan Rice, Ezri Konsa and a Bukayo Saka brace. France fought back after the break through a Mbappé double and Bradley Barcola's strike, before Bukayo Saka converted a penalty for England. Dembélé pulled another goal back for Les Bleus, but Jude Bellingham completed the scoring in a 6-4 victory for the Three Lions.
