Elliot Anderson to join Man City for club record transfer fee

Elliot Anderson will reportedly join Manchester City after they agreed to pay Nottingham Forest a club record fee for the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old became one of the most sought-after talents in the Premier League following an exceptional campaign for the Tricky Trees last season.

The England international started all but one top-flight game, combining a massive workrate with a superb ability to move the ball into the opposition half while registering four goals and four assists.

According to The Athletic, City have “agreed” a £116 million deal with Forest to sign Anderson this summer. The agreement comes after City had a bid rejected earlier in June.

It is a fixed fee with no add-ons, and personal terms are being finalised but are not expected to be an obstacle.

Anderson, who is currently with the Three Lions squad at the FIFA World Cup in North America, has been “given permission” to undergo a medical in New York on Friday.

The move would make Anderson the most expensive British footballer ever. The fee also represents a club record for City, overtaking the £100 million they paid Aston Villa for Jack Grealish in 2021.

Anderson signed for Forest in 2023, joining the Midlands outfit from Newcastle United in a £35 million deal. He has since made 92 appearances for the club.

Forest are reportedly interested in signing Lucas Bergvall from Tottenham Hotspur as a midfield replacement.
