Max Curran is on the move... sort of. The Edmonton Oil Kings forward has his rights traded at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline by the Colorado Avalanche as part of the Nazem Kadri trade. As a result of the trade, Curran is now a member of the Calgary Flames.
Curran was initally drafted by the Avalanche in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. At the time, he was playing for the Tri-City Americans and put up 32 points in 40 games during his draft year. Curran also played the 2024-25 season with Tri-City before being dealt to Edmonton in the 2025 off-season.
As for this season, Curran is having a strong campaign with the Oil Kings. In 31 games, he has 41 points and represented Czechia at the 2026 World Juniors. Curran has commited to the NCAA for next year where he will join the University of Massachusetts.
