Edmond Tapsoba nearing contract extension at Bayer Leverkusen

Edmond Tapsoba is on the verge of extending his contract at Bayer Leverkusen beyond 2028, according to Kicker.

The Burkinabe defender has featured 41 times for Die Werkself in 2025/26, and has established himself as one of Leverkusen’s consistent performers, playing a key role in their 2023/24 Bundesliga and DFB Pokal winning campaign.

The 27-year-old’s new contract will see him become one of Leverkusen’s highest earners.

Tapsoba extension a huge coup

Arsenal have the option to sign Piero Hincapié for a reported £45m at the end of the season while the future of Jarell Quansah remains uncertain as Liverpool retain a €70m-€80m buy-back clause, with the Englishman a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk at the Premier League club.

Additionally, Robert Andrich isn’t getting any younger and so the extension of Tapsoba’s contract remains key to Leverkusen’s squad planning.

Since joining from Vitoria de Guimaraes for €18m in January 2020, Leverkusen’s No. 12 has played 267 games across all competitions.
