Longtime Carl Albert swim coach Josh Norman is on to a new role.

Edmond North has announced the hiring of Norman as the program's next head swim coach.

Norman arrives after helping orchestrate a historic run at Carl Albert.

Under his leadership, the Titans became the first Class 5A program in Oklahoma history to sweep both the boys and girls state swimming championships in the same season this spring. Carl Albert’s boys team also secured its third consecutive state title.

Norman competed collegiately at Oklahoma Baptist University before joining his father, Kirk, on Carl Albert’s coaching staff. Following Kirk’s retirement in 2022, Josh took over the program and guided the Titans to four combined state championships across four seasons.

He now joins a Huskies program which has won recent 6A boys and girls titles in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Former Shawnee coach Chad Johnson hired at McGuinness

McGuinness announced the hiring of former Shawnee coach Chad Johnson as its next boys basketball coach Thursday.

Johnson steps into the role after Jake Brown resigned earlier this spring following six seasons at McGuinness. Brown compiled a 96-71 record during his tenure while guiding the Irish to state tournament appearances in both Class 4A and 5A.

Johnson brings a variety of experience to McGuinness.

Johnson starred at Edmond Santa Fe High School before graduating in 2011 and continuing his playing career at Lipscomb University.

He spent two seasons as a player development coach with the Dallas Mavericks before returning to Oklahoma for assistant coaching stops at Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian over a six-year stretch.

"Incredibly blessed to be a part of the Bishop McGuinness community," Johnson said in a post to X. "The rich tradition and history of the program make this opportunity truly special. Excited to serve, lead, and compete alongside a community that values excellence both on and off the court."

Paxton Kilby to coach at Jones

Former Carl Albert assistant Paxton Kilby has been hired as the next head boys basketball coach at Jones

Kilby replaces former Longhorns coach John White, who led Jones to a 12-17 record during his lone season at the helm.

The hire brings a veteran presence to Jones with Kilby owning head coaching experience at Shawnee, Latta, Sasakwa and Earlsboro.

Kilby recently helped guide Carl Albert to a 5A state runner-up finish in 2026 after joining the Titans’ staff this past season. Before that, he was part of Dale’s 2025 2A state championship staff.

"It’s no secret what a special place Jones is," Kilby said in a post to Facebook. "It’s clear that the community rallies around its school, its students, and its programs. I am thrilled for my family & I to be joining such a great community and school. It’s also no secret that we have some outstanding students & young men in our program. Those young men are who this is really all about. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running."
