After several years working his way through the minor leagues, Pocono Mountain East baseball alum Zach McCambley gets the call.

McCambley, 27, had his contract selected by the Cincinnati Reds after the Reds traded for him on May 21. In the 30 and 1/3 minor league innings pitched in 2026, McCambley posted a 2.37 ERA while recording 37 strikeouts with 18 walks.

He's been in the minor leagues since 2021 after playing collegiately at Coastal Carolina, where he made the 2020 All-Sun Belt Preseason Team before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

McCambley also had a decorated high school career at Pocono Mountain East, earning an All-American honorable mention from Perfect Game/Rawlings while also being named to the All-Atlantic Region First Team. Additionally, he was the 108th-best RHP in the 2017 recruiting class.

McCambley was drafted 75th overall in the third round of the 2020 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins. The 6-foot-1 pitcher talked to the Pocono Record about representing East during his pro baseball journey in December, when he was in the Phillies organization.

"When you mention that, it's cool to think about," McCambley said. "I've had some of my best memories growing up, just being from the Poconos and going to a public high school. I'm super grateful and honored. It just goes to show that with hard work and dedication to your craft, you can really do anything."
