The Eagles have an opening at the offensive coordinator position, and hours after Buffalo fired Sean McDermott, Philadelphia's brass is prepared to sit down with the man who could be the top target. Brian Daboll is set to be the third coach interviewed after Kevin Patullo was removed as the Eagles' offensive coordinator last Tuesday.
Patullo could still remain on staff, but his time as the play caller has ended, while the Eagles will work to select the best available play caller that can take Jalen Hurts and a stale offense to the next level.
The Eagles have already interviewed Mike Kafka and Zac Robinson.
Daboll has coached Jalen Hurts before (Alabama), and he landed the Giants' head coaching position in 2022 after four seasons in Buffalo as the Bills' offensive coordinator. Daboll has been credited with helping develop MVP quarterback Josh Allen, who struggled with accuracy when drafted out of Wyoming in 2018. In his third season as coordinator, in 2020, Daboll helped the Bills average 31.3 points per game, advance to the AFC Championship Game, and earn assistant coach of the year honors. Daboll is a mentor to the Eagles' head coach, and McDaniel has been on Howie Roseman's radar for years now.
