The Eagles did not completely rebuild their offense this offseason, but they changed enough to make 2026 feel like the start of a new offensive identity. The foundation remains strong. Jalen Hurts is still the quarterback, Saquon Barkley remains the centerpiece of the run game, DeVonta Smith is positioned to become the clear No. 1 wide receiver, and the offensive line is still built around Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, and Lane Johnson. Dallas Goedert gives Philadelphia a proven tight end, and the Eagles still have enough front-line talent to be one of the NFL’s more difficult offenses to defend.

The difference is how the pieces around that core have changed. A.J. Brown’s trade to New England created a major shift in the passing game, moving Smith from an elite complementary weapon to an offensive focal point. Philadelphia responded by reshaping the receiver room with Makai Lemon, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, and Elijah Moore, giving the Eagles more speed, versatility, and competition than they had a year ago. Lemon gives the offense a young, explosive option, Brown brings vertical ability, Wicks offers size and route-running versatility, and Moore adds another movable piece who can work inside or outside.

The other major change is philosophical. Sean Mannion’s offense is expected to bring more structure, motion, play-action, and under-center concepts, pulling from the Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan coaching tree. That matters for Hurts, who has dealt with questions about predictability, offensive rhythm, and whether the Eagles have done enough schematically to create easier answers. A more detailed system should challenge Hurts, but it could also help him by creating cleaner throws, better spacing, and more defined reads.

Barkley’s role should remain central, but the run game could also evolve. Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce, and Carson Steele give the Eagles different body types and situational options behind him. If Mannion can pair Barkley’s explosiveness with more motion, play-action, and personnel variation, Philadelphia can keep defenses from sitting on the same tendencies.

Tight end is another area where the identity changed. Goedert remains the veteran leader, but Johnny Mundt adds blocking value, while rookie Eli Stowers gives the Eagles a developmental receiving option with upside. Cameron Latu’s fullback-tight end versatility could also help Philadelphia build heavier looks without becoming predictable.

The offensive line remains the stabilizer, but even that group has a different feel because Steen is now more established, the backup competition is deeper, and the Eagles have several young linemen fighting for developmental roles. Philadelphia’s offense has long been built through the trenches, and that will not change, but the supporting structure around the line should look different.

The biggest shift is that the Eagles are no longer built around one dominant receiver duo. They are trying to become more multiple, more flexible, and harder to diagnose. Smith becomes the passing-game anchor, Barkley remains the run-game force, Hurts is being asked to grow in a more layered system, and the new receivers must prove they can replace Brown’s production collectively. The Eagles still have star power, but their offensive identity is moving away from relying on overwhelming individual talent alone. In 2026, the goal is to become more balanced, more detailed, and more adaptable, with Mannion tasked with turning a talented roster into an offense that gives Hurts more answers and forces defenses to defend every part of the field.
