The tush push continues to garner headlines whenever the Philadelphia Eagles use it on the football field. Going into the 2026 NFL season, offensive coordinator Sean Mannion revealed his plans on whether he will emphasize the offensive play call.
Mannion prepares for his first season as the team’s offensive playcaller, replacing Kevin Patullo at the position. Philadelphia hopes to return to the Super Bowl throne after winning it all in the 2024 season.
Mannion was coming off a two-year stint with the Green Bay Packers, being the offensive assistant and the quarterbacks coach. While he looks to implement his style of offensive plays to the Eagles, the signature tush push will be part of his plans going into the upcoming campaign.
“It’s going to be a part of what we do. It’s been an extremely effective play here,” Mannion said Saturday, via ESPN. “We’re going to lean into that. It’s something this organization has executed at a high level. So along with many other elements to our offense, certainly, it’s something that will be a part of it.”

The Eagles hope to secure significant stability at offensive coordinator, switching between multiple coaches throughout the past couple of years.
Philadelphia enjoyed its time being on the throne after winning Super Bowl 59 over the Kansas City Chiefs. However, their repeat hopes came to an end after falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card round.
Philadelphia will attempt to improve on its 11-6 record from 2025 and make the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season. It also marks the first season since 2021 without wide receiver A.J. Brown, following his trade to the New England Patriots.
The Eagles’ campaign will get underway at home when they host the Washington Commanders. That matchup will commence on Sept. 13 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
