Over the last several seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles had a particular way of doing things during their pre-draft meetings that set them up for success in the long run.

Philadelphia used top 30 visits with players as a final tool to target a certain class of individuals. The Eagles would consistently draft players who they met with on these visits.

The rest of the NFL caught wind of that during the 2025 draft. There was just one problem.

When the NFL expected the Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman to zag, he ended up zigging. Not a single player was drafted by the team who they met with before the selection process.

There's a reason for that too.

“Everyone we bring in for top 30 is for a reason,” Roseman said following the conclusion of the 2025 Draft. “Sometimes we're trying to get more information on guys. Sometimes we're trying in that vein to try to get to know them better. Sometimes we want them to meet someone in particular, but I'm not sure that, I don't know the answer to that.

“I certainly wouldn't want to start opening the door to who all our top 30 visits are and getting in the process of doing that and then all of a sudden everyone's trying to figure out the reasons we're bringing in top 30 guys,” he said. “But I don't know that I know the answer to that just off the top of my head, but again, we did a lot of stuff over the last couple of days. I'm going to take some time and look at it and figure out where our roster is, where we can continue to improve.”

It was painfully obvious general managers have been looking to get a leg up on Roseman. Being the best general manager in football will do that to his rivals.

But his ability to adapt makes him unique in NFL circles, and continues to keep the Eagles among the elite teams in the sport.
