The Philadelphia Eagles have built their identity in the trenches for about as long as most of us can remember. Still, even the most reliable units eventually need attention. Last season, the offensive line didn't quite reach the dominant standard it had set in previous years. Fair or not, changes followed at season's end. Longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland is no longer in the picture, with Chris Kuper stepping in to guide the next phase of development. Now comes the next step, restocking the talent.
The Eagles recently hosted former Utah Utes standout Caleb Lomu for a predraft visit, adding another intriguing name to their offensive line evaluation process. He posted this photo on his Instagram story:
A former Freshman All-American and 2025 First-Team All-Big 12 selection, he brings both pedigree and upside to the conversation. The interest makes sense. Philadelphia is facing a quiet but important transition along the line.
Lane Johnson remains elite, but time is undefeated. Meanwhile, both Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens have battled durability concerns in recent seasons. Depth is no longer optional. It’s necessary. Lomu fits the type of prospect the Eagles have historically developed well: long, athletic, and capable of growing into a larger role. Whether that begins as a rotational piece or evolves into something more will depend on time and coaching, but the intent is clear.
Philadelphia isn't waiting for a problem to become urgent. They're addressing it before it gets there, and if the past is any indication, that's usually when they’re at their best. It's been said that games are won and lost in the trenches. The Eagles proved that to be true in recent seasons. Hopefully, some early draft capital will be invested in giving the O-line some reinforcements.
