The Eagles had all kinds of defensive issues in the Black Friday loss to the Bears, and the safety position was responsible for several blown assignments. With Andrew Mukuba out, it was Sydney Brown who played alongside starter Reed Blankenship.

Blankenship and Brown were among the five lowest graded performers in the loss, but reinforcements are on the way as Philadelphia opened the practice window for safety Marcus Epps. Epps was placed on Injured Reserve after the Eagles' Week 8 victory over the Giants on October 26.

Back for his second stint with the Eagles, Epps has been a special teams contributor this season and played 15 defensive snaps. Philadelphia elevated Andre Sam from the practice squad last week against the Bears.

During his first stint, Epps developed into a full-time starter for the Eagles in 2022, helping the team reach the Super Bowl.
