Across NBA history, there are only a few guards who were better than Dwyane Wade. The Miami Heat legend played for 16 seasons, and throughout his career, he made sure he stamped himself as one of the greatest players in the league.

Since retiring in 2019, Wade has been around the league as a media member and even a podcaster. With that, he has been left open to discussions about his legacy and how he would fit in today's NBA. As a confident retired superstar, Wade believes that he would be just as good as he was during his prime.

Dwyane Wade knows he will be just as good in today's NBA

During his career, Wade was a special player. He was one of the greatest slashers in NBA history, breaking defenses with his athleticism. It was a natural ability for him, which is why he dominated with his rim finishing and his pull-ups from mid-range.

Nowadays, that is reminiscent of some star players like Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder. For that reason, it is easy to see why Wade can become one of the best players in today's NBA if he were in his prime.

In his prime in the late 2000s, he was averaging in the high 20s. In fact, the 2008-09 season is when he won the scoring title by averaging 30.2 points per game. He was a special offensive player during his career, and he could have been even better today.

Of course, three-point shooting would have been a problem, but a better foundation in the modern age could have made him a much better shooter. Overall, his point involves him still being a top player no matter what the era he is playing in.

"I think my career would be the same. I don’t think nothing would change. Could it be more points here and there? More threes? I was in the top five in the NBA in scoring for a few years back to back to back. Just copy and paste. Just do that," Wade said on Time Out on the WY Network.

It is a good look into how Wade has become one of the greatest players of the modern era. He might not have the jump shooting ability of players like Stephen Curry, but he was still one of the best without that high level of shooting. Now, the modern era could have made him an even better player if he had played in this era.
