Dwight Howard is facing renewed scrutiny after his wife, Amy Luciani, claimed in a social media video that Child Protective Services removed their daughter from the home amid ongoing turmoil in the couple’s marriage.
Amy Luciani cries as she says CPS took her daughter because of her husband, Dwight Howard, who she says has a cocaine problem, showing a bag of cocaine allegedly owned by him.

According to Complex, Luciani alleged that CPS had visited their residence multiple times in recent months before ultimately taking the child.

“CPS has been here three times in less than three months,” she said in the clip, which circulated widely online before being deleted. Luciani also indicated she had previously tried to leave the relationship but ultimately stayed, saying she wanted to support Howard through what she described as personal struggles.
The latest developments add another chapter to the public attention surrounding Howard, an eight-time NBA All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year who rose to prominence during his years with the Orlando Magic.
Howard has remained a recognizable figure in basketball culture long after his prime playing years, with a career that has included multiple teams and a 2020 NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers.
In the video, Luciani appeared to accuse Howard of substance abuse while holding up a small bag containing a white substance.
“I’ve been trying to tell everybody, he needs some help,” she said. “Nobody wanted to listen because he’s got the money. I live with him, and he needs some help.” She later added, “This is what I’m losing my marriage to,” while pointing toward the bag. Luciani also claimed she had been attempting to support Howard despite the situation, stating, “He is spiraling and I’m in here with him. I’m trying to love him through it.”
Additional details were shared in the video's caption before it was removed from social media. According to Luciani, authorities had been called to the home several times during the couple’s relatively short marriage.
“My Husband put himself in a position that resulted in CPS being called to our house 3X in less than two months,” she wrote. “Three days ago, they were called again and they left with our daughter.” Luciani also said she had contacted police multiple times during the marriage.

Howard and Luciani married in January 2025, but their relationship has faced legal and personal challenges since then. Luciani filed for divorce roughly six months after the wedding, and court records show that a mutual restraining order was filed shortly afterward.
