Scharnowski announced his commitment to Jon Scheyer’s squad on Sunday, becoming the first player to select Duke out of the transfer portal.

As a sophomore during the 2025-26 season, the 6-foot-9, 230-pound Scharnowski averaged 10.7 points. 6.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 68.1 percent from the field in 21.8 minutes per game. A former 3-star recruit out of Burlington, Ill., Scharnowski was ranked the No. 8 power forward in this year’s transfer portal.

His commitment comes one day after Nikolas Khamenia announced his transfer to UConn.
