Duke softball star Aminah Vega added to her long list of collegiate accolades Tuesday, being named the ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year for softball. This award highlights players who've shown both tremendous athletic and academic achievements throughout the year.
Vega certainly did that as the senior infielder led the Blue Devils in OBP, OPS, SLG, doubles, triples and total bases. Vega also tallied 86 hits, 19 home runs and 69 RBIs. In the classroom, she graduated with a 3.83 GPA and a degree in psychology.
Vega's teammates excelled in their studies as well, with the Blue Devils softball team seeing 13 of their players make the All-ACC Academic Team for their academic proficiency, including stars Cassidy Curd and Jessica Oakland.
