Here's some well-earned recognition for Drew Brees. The former New Orleans Saints quarterback was awarded an honorary doctorate from his Purdue alma mater at the Boilermakers' spring commencement ceremony. The announcer introduced Brees with his long, long list of achievements. Super Bowl champion. 13-time Pro Bowler. And first-ballot member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. How's that for a resume?

Brees attended Purdue from 1997 to 2000, starting in each of his last three years in college. He led the Boilermakers to records of 9-4, 7-5, and 8-4, finishing 13th in the AP poll during his senior year. He also finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting as a junior before climbing to third in his senior year. Brees won the Maxwell Award (college football's award for the best all-around player) as a senior, making him the first and only Boilermaker to do so (so far). With his induction tot he Pro Football Hall of Fame coming up in August, it makes sense the school would choose this occasion to give him his flowers.

Congrats Dr. @drewbrees! The legendary #Saints QB was awarded an honorary doctorate from Purdue.

I loved that they recited that long list of his football accolades at the graduation. What a moment for No. 9. pic.twitter.com/69AVDwgQZE

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will enshrine Brees alongside his peers in the Class of 2026 (running back Roger Craig, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, linebacker Luke Kuechly, and kicker Adam Vinatieri) on Aug. 8 in Canton, Ohio. It's going to be an eventful long weekend with plenty of time for Brees and his fellow Hall of Famers to get some shine under the spotlight, which you can read more about here. We'll be watching.
