People across the basketball world are waiting to see which NBA team LeBron James will play for next season. It is thought that he's most likely to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers, but it seems very possible that he will leave and join either the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Golden State Warriors just weeks from now.

However, there is also the possibility of James simply retiring after 23 seasons. Most figure he will return for a 24th NBA campaign, but one can never be sure with him until he makes an official decision.

Draymond Green, one of the Warriors' main pillars over the last dozen years, implied on his podcast that people should be asking whether James will continue to play instead of asking which team he will be on this fall.

“I try not to use personal relationships and basketball, to kinda cross those lines,” Green said on the latest episode of his podcast. “But I think from just what I see, I don’t think it’s a matter of if he goes to another team or not. I think it’s a matter of if he continues playing or not. I don’t foresee it like he’s gonna go to Phoenix, he’s gonna go to Golden State, I don’t foresee that.”

Green is good friends with James, and some may wonder if he has some inside info on what the four-time MVP will end up doing. A few months ago, the forward told Melissa Rohlin of the California Post that he had always wanted to play with James. James is also tight with Stephen Curry, and the two living legends helped Team USA win the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The most the Warriors, in all likelihood, will be able to offer James is the non-taxpayer mid-level exception of roughly $15 million. The Lakers, on the other hand, will have tens of millions of dollars in salary cap space and could potentially offer James a max contract for next season.
