Draft Therapy-Leftwich fans give 5 positives about T. Suggs and visa versa.

In approximately 14 days, 22 hours and 6 minutes we will have made our choice with the sixth pick. At that time there will be no more speculation, just time to digest the pick (unless we trade) and gear up for the 2nd round. For many of us, the draft can really dominate our thinking (especially from February to April) and by the time late April rolls around its time for the darn thing to happen.

Many of us are hanging our hats on certain guys and the two that dominate this board are Byron Leftwich and Terrell Suggs, two awesome young players and two guys who have caused quite a few of us to get pretty combative in defending or rationalizing who we should take.

That being said, I propose that every Leftwich fan give 5 positives that Terrell Suggs brings to the table, and that every Suggs fan give 5 positives that Bryon Leftwich brings to the table.

I am a Leftwich fan so here goes my 5 about Suggs:

1. Fills a huge need.
2. Brings excellent game speed to the defense.
3. A local guy who actually wants to play here.
4. Could be one of only a handful of true difference makers in the draft.
5. A young pup who will only get better.

I am in the Suggs camp.

However, I think we go DT/DE with our first two picks. If we take Suggs with #6, who/what DT would be available with our 2nd rd pick? Would it be better for us to go DE then DT or DT then DE?

I just wonder which combo gives us the best 1-2 this year.

I was in the Suggs camp before I convinced myself that Robertson was the better pick, but in the spirit of the thread, I'll say my five nice things about Byron:

1. Kid just has one hell of a cannon on his shoulder.
2. Has a very nice prototype build.
3. Put of great numbers over time.
4. Speaks well of his former teammates (Randy and Chad), and seems reasonably well-spoken (from the ESPN chat)
5. Stuck around for his senior season, when he could have maybe been #1 after 2001.

I don't think you read the point of this thread.

Hmm...

Well I would be happy with either player so I will give them for both.

Suggs

#1 Had college production on the defensive side that transcends a slow 40 time.

#2 You could make a strong arguement that he would immediately be our best player on defense.

#3 More than just patching a hole, fills a long term need.

#4 Would provide a lot of national attention

#5 Would make the other player around him better. Would be inspirational in his "never say die attitude.

Now for Leftwich

#1 Had college production on the defensive side that transcends a slow 40 time.

#2 You could make a strong arguement that he would immediately be our best player on offense.

#3 More than just patching a hole, fills a long term need.

#4 Would provide a lot of national attention

#5 Would make the other player around him better. Would be inspirational in his "never say die attitude.



I feel either of these players are franchise level players. That's why it is my motto to get one of these guys or just trade down.

i'm on the 'wich-wagon, so here goes my best suggs stuff:

1. he's a terror on qbs - literally. you can see qbs accounting for him when they check the defense.

2. he professes to want to play for the cards.

3. he has a non-stop motor.

4. he possesses a great tomahawk chop - too few de's use this effectively anymore.

5. he can take one hell of a blow to the cranium.

I'm in the Leftwich camp as well.

5 for Suggs

1) I'm a UofA fan so I'm glad he left early
2) His play can be summarized in one word - disruptive
3) He can cut to the passer with an inside path (unlike simeon rice who would almost always try to go outside on the tackle)
4) He was a former running back, who can apply those elusiveness skills to his pass rush
5) He actually WANTS to stay in Arizona

and somebody already posted about that adrenaline, i think that is probably his biggest assett. he does seem to be one of those guys who just goes out and leaves it all on the field. guys like that just make everyone around them better because nobody wants to let that guy down.
