Tweener: A guy without a true position, who could either suck or light it up usually. Comes from "betweener" or a guy between two positions, like DE and OLB.

Motor: Plays hard all the time and doesn't quit on his teammates.

Character: A "nice" guy, who does a lot of work in the community and is approachable.

Upside: A guy who become pretty good, or has a lot of potential. An invest in the future, but usually not great right now.

Reach: A guy taken before his "value" warrants. Example: a guy who is not a top 50 player taken with one of the first 50 picks.

Value: Where a guy is "supposed" to go in the draft depending on numerous factors such as athletic ability, skills, character, upside, motor, and ability to play and be productive immediately.

I would add to motor that the players ability is more average but his desire and will often make him play at a higher level.

To value I would add that it is a player who is taken at a point later than his projected "slot" in the draft.

Not necessarily. Lawrence Taylor was a high motor guy, and he is, imo, the single greatest defender of all time. High motors are usually associated with players with lesser talent however.

True but the term "High Motor" is rarely used in conjunction with high talent players. It is usually reserved for players of lesser talent who outperform.

It is a bit like being called an overachiever IMO.

Tweener: That thing in your speaker that makes the high-pitched noises.

Motor: The location of Mt. Doom in "The Lord of The Rings" triology.

Character: The guy you play in Dungeons & Dragons.

Upside: The money earned by a Professional Wrestler for matches, personal appearances, and their share of merchandise sales, as opposed to "Downside" which is guarenteed money regardless of performance.

Reach: Byron Leftwich!

Value: Ken Shockley, DT, Washington State in the 7th round...the steal of the draft!

Tweener: He's a great natural athlete, with good size and speed, a great motor, high character, lots of value, and a ton of upside. The kind of guy you're willing to reach for.

Motor: Kind of a tweener, but a great natural athlete, good size and speed, great intanglibles. Tremendous value and upside, and may be a little bit of a reach.

Character: Guy with a great motor, prototypical size and speed, tremendous intangibles to go along with massive value and upside. Would look great in Silver and Blue. Doesn't do drugs... Anymore. Hasn't murdered anyone... Recently.

Upside: Huge character guy with all the intangibles, and a huge motor, though he's a bit of a tweener. Awesome size and speed, and we're not sorry to say that we reached for him. He can't really run routes or tackle, but represents great vaule.

Reach: Motor... Tweener... Character... Upside... Size and speed... intangibles... My God, did we really just draft this guy????

Value: I'm not sure why fifteen hundred other teams passed on this guy, but we're going to pay him thirteen million dollars and hope that he doesn't run over a meter maid until he's in a contract year.

Tweener: You use it for pulling out splinters (actually: "Fast but too light: or Large enough but too slow" i.e. between a DT & DE or LB & safety).

Motor: Vehicle Department's first name.
(actually: "continuous effort")

Character: Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman
(actually: "dude hasn't raped anybody, hit anybody, ingested anything or stolen anything recently. Also doesn't tend to quit or say bad things to teammates or media when things are sucky)

Upside: When a boat floats properly
(actually - "the thing that will get a coach fired" - i.e. po-tential).

Reach: Goin' for the last flapjack.
(actually - Tommy Knight at #9. Mike Stone at #34).

Value: Free tix to the Devils' playoff game.
(actually: Pat Tillman in the seventh round)

And let's not forget:

Fast Twitch: Don Knotts (actually: quicker than a tiger rattler).
