What do you think we do now??? Obviously if Suggs is there I think we take him??

But what about Leftwhich will we still take this guy if hes there or do you think the organization plans to use Blake for one to two years in order for them to groom McCown??

I think thats what we will do and we will draft Defense no matter if Suggs is there or not JMO though!

From the sound of it, Graves plans on grooming McCown under Blake, so QB doesn't appear likely.

If Suggs isn't there, we have a huge upgrade in speed and athleticism in Newman if we want.

It looks like it will be a tight raace to who we pick depending on how we finish up free agency.

1-Suggs: If we don't sign Holliday, but we will need to move up to get him.

2-Rogers: Getting him is probably as likely as adding Suggs. Would have to move up, but would have a future Pro Bowler at our most needed position.

3-Newman: How do not love the idea of adding him to our already impressive secondary? Barrett, Pro Bowl nickle corner.

4-Robertson: About 6'2", 320 pounds running a 4.7 40. This kid is a beast, and would be great to pair up with Bryant. Can't have too much talent upfront, in the middle especially.

5-Leftwich: If we didn't have McCown, I would probably have him number 1 or 2. Kid could be special is a deep ball system, with a good line and a couple years on the bench to adjust. Like I said, if only we could trade McCown.

6-Andre Johnson: If he wasn't so raw I would be all for him. Won't contribute much (as history shows), but then again he does have Sullivan to help him.

Could be interesting.

Trade up to get Suggs. He's going to be special at that position, he wants to be here, and he fills what is quite possibly our most pressing need.

Agreed, whatever it takes to get him, he should be our #1 priority right now, reguardless if we sign Holliday or Okeafor.

When is the last time the #1 Defensive player in the draft said he wanted to come to the Cards to play?

Palmer won't play for Cincy, give them the farm to move up to #1.

He wants to be a CARDINAL - he is from Chandler and guess what
he is the NCAA Sack leader (all you ASU fans know that)!!!

If we can't get him Newman would be a stud on the other side of Starks!!!! And the Rams and Niners would have difficulty !!!! But Suggs is the man

We're still 4 starters away from being solid, so I'd be leery about trading up for Suggs unless we filled the other 3 holes in our starting roster in free agency.

I see those positions of need as being -

1. Pass rusher

2. Shutdown Corner

3. Proven impact receiver

4. Run Stuffing DT

If we trade up for Suggs and still want a really good corner out of the draft, we shouldn't make our #37 (second round) pick part of the deal, because we should be able to get an excellent corner at #37.

If we sign Holliday (assuming he can be counted on for 10+ sacks per season) I'd rather pass on trading up for Suggs, draft Newman and nail down a DT in free agency. Either sign someone like Conway in free agency or draft a sleeper impact wideout (like Calico) in the 3rd round.

I think very few of you HONESTLY think that Blake is our future QB. He will do fine, and I'll miss Plummer as a fan, AND I know Jeff Blake is 20 times better than him, but, the question is: Who is available in the 2004 draft? McCown hasn't impressed me on paper, much less in performance, despite his limited exposure to real playing time.

If there is a potential option at QB in 2004 equal to (or better) than Leftwich...wait and make Suggs happen. Otherwise, draft Leftwich and go defense in the other six rounds. This guy appears to be the second coming of J.H.C. on paper...I'll take that.

Thank you for your support.

Either in 2004 or 2005

You may see Brad Smith out of Missouri enter the draft- he could be (now read it clearly naysayers I said "could be") the next coming of Michael Vick!!!!

Watch him- He will make some team in the NFL much better!

I think our pick will end up being Leftwich just because i don't think we'll trade up because the price wil be too steep and Suggs,Kennedy and Newman will all be gone. The key may be Houston. If they take the tackle from Utah then one of the defensive players may be there. The Bengals are now leaning a little more towards Palmer because they have addressed the DL and CB in free agency. In a perfect world they trade down and take Newman. That's who they really want followed by Kennedy.I think the first 5 picks will be Palmer,Rogers,??Kennnedy, Suggs,Newman and we're there at 6.I think Leftwich is the best player in the draft so this could be a good thing.

Sorry Jeff but I think the secondary is set as long as we upgrade our Pass rush these guys will be more than fine! We are solid in the secondary although Depth is always nice!

I disagree. We don't have a shut down corner (Starks is a good #2 and Barret is a solid nickel corner, but not a number 2) and it's something we should address though after a pass rusher and a wide receiver. Newman isn't really as much of a priority as he was, but if he falls to us, he would solidify our secondary as potentially top flight.

Another problem with where we will draft is that with a second first rounder, the Bengals will most likely draft a defensive player wiht their first pick, though they will try and trade back. That basically means that they will draft either Suggs or Newman with the number 1 pick in the draft.

This means either Suggs or Newman will be gone at number one and the other one will have to get past both the BEars and the Cowboys.
