this script was laughably bad. anyone who watches football and knows the sport is going to be consistently rolling their eyes at the crap that happens in this movie.

The trailer looked pretty silly

the movie's gonna be even sillier.

the completely casual sports fan might like this, but anyone who takes enough time to come to a place like this and is an educated NFL fan is going to be incredulous at the crap that happens in this movie.

I'm with ya on Any Given Sunday. That movie was ridiculous. Titans was pretty good but a little cheesy. I'm a big fan of the original The Longest Yard, Wildcats, North Dallas Forty, Friday Night Lights.

I know your tastes Gee...I don't think you're gonna like this is. If it's anything like the script it's going to be really unbelievable and super schmaltzy.

Cosner trades his entire draft for the #1 pick. This what happens when you make an ex baseball player your GM.

when I first saw the trailer I thought it was a mock movie ad that was really hyping ESPN draft coverage ........ then I learned this is an actual movie in theaters ......... why?

I rolled my eyes numerous times during "White House Down". And thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's Costner, it's football. Not everything has to be "Twelve Years A Slave". Sometimes it's just..... Costner and football.

I rolled my eyes numerous times at White House Down too and thoroughly enjoyed it...but that movie was made to be a little tongue in cheek.

This script didn't read that way. It read like someone trying to make a really good draft movie...while having NO clue about how the draft works. Doesn't have to be 12 Years A Slave. Moneyball sure as hell wasn't but it was able to be both extremely entertaining and seemed accurate. This script...not so much.

That's because Moneyball was based off of Billy Beane's book. It appears draft day was written by someone who's only experience with drafting for the NFL was his fantasy draft.

Yeah, but it's Costner in a sports movie. Granted, he's done a few stinkers, but by far more great sports movies than not. I'll give it a shot.

just saying, based on the script, this ain't gonna be one of them.

I'm a huge fan of Costner's sports movies like Bull Durham, Tin Cup, but this sucker's almost reaches Field Of Dreams level fantasy (which was great in Field Of Dreams...not so much in a movie set in reality).

eh...you know what, after reading that Grantland article, I've had a complete change of heart. I still think there will be some stuff in this movie you guys will roll your eyes at, but upon further thought, I'm being wayyyyyyyyyyy too harsh on this script. As someone who wrote a football show, I know how hard it is to keep with the realities of what I know from being a die-hard sports freak and what's needed sometimes to work on screen to make the biggest impact dramatically.

I've been a complete snob about this movie...probably because it got SO much hype in the writing community, but also because I thought there was a real opportunity to do something really special with the draft.

bottom line...making sports TV/Movies is really tough. I hope this is successful and y'all enjoy it.

OK, I saw the movie, and I liked it. Flame away. My wife liked it too, which is more important to me than any of you, sorry. It is a MOVIE, for entertainment. I am fine with that.

Okay, I can admit when I make a mistake. A bad, BAD mistake. Aside from glorifying Rod Graves-like incompetence, it was full of terrible plot holes, and just plain stunk. One of the few Kevin Costner sports stinkers.

It has pretty good reviews (according to rotten tomatoes) and didn't make much at the box office in its first weekend.

lol...kinda expected you to have this response.

the script made it seem like every team was run by Rod Graves.
