It’s another doubleheader Saturday in Women’s Pro Baseball League action.

Thanks to a San Francisco Firebells offensive explosion on Friday night when they beat the Los Angeles Queens 17-3, the Firebells enter the day on top of the standings at 4-2. Kelsie Whitmore was again the star of the day, getting the win on the mound after giving up two runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in four innings. At the plate, Whitmore drove in six runs for the second straight game, hitting two homers, including a grand slam.

Game 1​


Up first, San Francisco will try to stay in first place as they take on the New York Heights (2-3). In their lone matchup this season, the Heights won 13-8 on Aug. 6. The Heights are led by Denae Benites, who is tied with Whitmore for the league lead with five homers.

Game 2​


The Queens (3-3) will take on the Boston Hunters (2-3) in the second game of the day. In their only meeting of the season, Los Angeles beat Boston 12-4. The Queens are hoping to break a three-game losing streak while Boston won its last game, 6-1 over New York.
