Borussia Dortmund need to quickly move on from their disappointing Champions League exit as a top clash against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich awaits on Saturday.
Dortmund were favourites coming into Wednesday's play-off second leg against Atalanta after their 2-0 win at home last week, but a controversial penalty in stoppage time helped Atalanta seal a 4-1 win.
"We didn't deserve to advance," Dortmund coach Niko Kovac said.
Now they need to shift the focus to the domestic league, in which they sit eight points behind Bayern.
"We know the meaning of this game for the Bundesliga. We will try everything, to keep it close. That's the team's task," Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said.
The Bundesliga is now Dortmund's last hope of silverware this season as they were already eliminated from the German Cup.
"We know that we face the German champions now. That doesn't make things easier. We have to build strength to deliver a good performance," Kovac said.
