Former Germany forward Timo Werner's move from RB Leipzig to Major League Soccer club San José Earthquakes has been completed, dpa has learnt.
An official confirmation is outstanding but only a few formalities need to be settled.
Leipzig coach Ole Werner said earlier in week that the deal was all but finalised and that Werner would not be in the squad for Saturday's Bundesliga match against Mainz.
He said that Werner may continue to train in Leipzig a little longer for family reasons and that "he will got all our support to be well prepared for his new task."
MLS teams are starting pre-season preparations and the Earthquakes play their first match on February 22 against Kansas City.
Werner, 29, was linked with a move to New York Red Bulls last summer but decided to stay in Leipzig where he has only managed three brief appearances for a total of just over 10 minutes this season.
Werner played at Leipzig 2016-2020, scoring 28 league goals in the final season, and returned in 2022 after two modest years at Chelsea. The second term was far less successful and his contract would have run out in summer.
He has won 57 Germany caps, scoring 24 goals, between 2017 and 2023.
