Malik Willis, a former Tennessee Titans first-round draft pick who was traded to the Green Bay Packers in 2024, signed with the Miami Dolphins during NFL free agency on March 9.

Less than a week after the quarterback signed, the Dolphins agreed to trade their No. 1 wide receiver, Jaylen Waddle, to the Denver Broncos. Willis, who is competing with Quinn Ewers to start under center in Miami, said he would have "loved to play" with Waddle.

"It was unfortunate, for sure, to say the least," Willis said during Dolphins organized team activities in May. "That's a really good player and I would have loved to play with him, but that's above my pay grade, brother. Out of my hands."

Malik wasn't the only Dolphin surprised by the trade. Miami's center, Aaron Brewer, said he was shocked by the trade. Receiver Malik Washington didn’t want to believe it was true.

Not only is it true, but the Dolphins now find themselves entering a rebuilding era while the Broncos attempt to compete for a Super Bowl after adding Waddle to a roster that reached the AFC Championship game last season.
