The Miami Dolphins have given contract extensions to two of their long-term building blocks this offseason, signing running back De'Von Achane for four years and center Aaron Brewer for three years.

With that, the Dolphins have one more player who fits in that category that still has just one year left on their deal - linebacker Jordyn Brooks. And if Miami can't ink Brooks to an extension before the season, they may consider moving on from him to get some value back in return.

This week, Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport put together a potential trade package for Brooks that would send the linebacker and a 2028 fifth-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 fourth-round pick.

In the last two years in South Florida, Brooks has recorded 326 tackles (24 for a loss), 10 quarterback hits, nine passes defensed, 6.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He led the league in tackles and was named an All-Pro for the first time.

With the Dolphins taking Jacob Rodriguez and Kyle Louis in the 2026 NFL draft, they've already brought in potential replacements for Brooks and Tyrel Dodson whenever they leave. At least if they trade Brooks now, they'll get something back sooner than if they just let him leave in free agency next offseason.
